The Timber Cake Boxes come in 5 sizes and are made from environmentally friendly, sustainable Hoop Pine Timber. One of the main benefits of using a Timber Cake Box is that is provides you with a super moist cake every time and I look forward to finding this out with my Orange & Poppyseed Cake. Recipe also out of Nestle’s ‘Australia’s Sweet Baking Favourites’ Cookbook.
I started out by seasoning our Loaf Box as per the instructions received. This involved brushing some light cooking oil all over box and putting in the oven for 30 minutes at 150 degrees.
As you need to line the box with baking paper each time and being very new to the world of baking in timber I quickly jumped on The Timber Cake Box Co Facebook page and watched their very detailed video on how to line the box. I’m a very visual person so I found this much easier to understand over the written instructions. I guess we all learn in different ways.
Next part was making the actual cake mix which Maddy my daughter took over. She’s pretty amazing in the kitchen and has been cooking since she could reach the bench. Wait till you see her buttercream swirls on the cupcakes we made for one of the other reviews.
Out of the oven and cooling we have a beautiful smelling cake take out to cool for the orange cream cheese frosting. Yum! Can’t wait for supper tonight.
So here is our finished product! Looks amazing doesnt it? Perfect with a cup of tea.
The verdict on the The Timber Loaf Box ‘I love that its a sustainable product. We need to help the environment in every way we can but the greatest moment was cutting through the cake to reveal the most amazingly moist cake which to be honest I often stuggle to achieve. I look forward to using this box again and again with some of my favourite recipes’
