Palette knife cake design

After learning the basics of how to work with buttercream using palette knives, you will transfer these new skills to create a beautiful palette knife design on your cake.

Piped floral cake

In this lesson you will learn how to pipe flowers using a variety of tools and flower nails, how to set the flowers and then how to transfer and adhere them to your cake. You will learn tips such as temperature, transfer techniques and flower placement, as well as how to finish off your cake with extra petals and leaves.

Frequently Asked Questions

how is the course delivered?

The 6-week Buttercream Masterclass is delivered via our online learning platform. Students will set up a login when they purchase the course. A new lesson of the course will be released on Monday at 9 am each week. Students will have time to complete that lesson before Thursday when we hold the live feedback and troubleshooting session. The feedback session is recorded so you can watch it on replay if you can’t attend live.

I have decorated some cakes before, is this course for me?

This course is designed for intermediate decorators who have basic skills in using Buttercream. If you have experience in decorating cakes, but feel you need to learn next-level techniques or master these techniques so you can consistently get good results, then this is the perfect course for you.

how long do i have access for?

Students have 12 months access to the videos inside the Buttercream Masterclass, so you can go back and re-watch each step for 12 months, to really help you solidify your newly learnt skills

i am a complete beginner, is this course for me?

No – This course assumes a basic knowledge of baking mud cakes and applying ganache and fondant. If you do not have basic skills in these areas you might find the Foundation Masterclass is a better course for you. is the content available straight away?

Each week we will release the next class. This is to allow you to master each of the steps in progress and receive feedback from our teachers, before moving on to the next step.

i'm not located in australia, can i join the course?

Yes! This course is delivered 100% online, so you can join from anywhere in the world. We welcome international students – we’d love to teach you our techniques!

will there be certain materials or supplies required to complete this course?

Students will be required to have basic cake decorating tools and supplies, including: cake tins, ganache scrapers, palette knife, rolling pin and fondant smoothers. Tools required for this course will include: stencil, gel colours, edible art paint, lustre dusts etc. We will provide a full material list upon sign up, and a list of suggested suppliers for students worldwide where you can purchase any items you don’t have.

what if i don't like the course?

We are so confident that you will love our course, that we offer a 14 day money-back guarantee, (from the start date of the course) for students who have watched both of the week 1 and week 2 lessons and participated in both of the week 1 and week 2 live feedback sessions, and think the course is not for them.

WHAT IF I MISS A WEEK OR CAN'T DO THE COURSE STRAIGHT AWAY?​

Although we do recommend all students complete the course together (virtually), students will be able to access the course content will be available for 12 months from the start date of the course.
