Over 20 years ago, making cakes and cookies here and there for family and friends.
When did you start your cake decorating business, and how did you make the change from cake decorating as a hobby to a business?
February 2011. I had been working on a building site and taking all my baked goodies in for the tradies to share and they were all so enthusiastic about my products. My job changed and it just seemed the right time to launch Tasty Bakes.
I joined the British Sugarcraft Guild, got my food licence and insurance, had my kitchen rated 5* by my local council, had some business cards printed and made sure everyone knew I was now making cakes. In 2014, we relocated from the UK to South Australia, so I’m going through this exact process again right now!
What do you find most challenging?
Balancing admin with actually caking. Also summer weather!
