How and when did you get started in Cake decorating?

2013 – my journey into cake decorating was purely accidental! I was studying a journalism degree while posting photos of little cookies I had been making on Instagram. It all snowballed from there, with people I’d never met asking to place orders. My first ever order was a wedding cake! I threw myself in head first and have just been winging it ever since!

What is your greatest achievement?

Oh gosh, I’m not sure what my greatest achievement is, but I did have so much fun filming for Postcards & Totally Wild last year!

What cake trends do you see coming in the next 12 months?

I think cakes are becoming bolder & brighter! Traditional cakes are fading out & it’s all about making a statement.

Who is your cake idol?

I don’t have a cake idol, but I had a foodie idol. I love Maggie Beer, she has such a wholesome approach to food & is just so authentic. I think that’s so inspiring for someone so successful to be so genuine.

What did you do prior to making cakes?

I was dancing full time…. I traded in pom poms for a piping bag!

What is the one tool you can't live without?

My extra huge rolling pin, it does all the hard work for me.

Have you ever had any cake disasters?

Of course! I have made every single mistake possible. It’s how I have learnt everything I have today, by totally stuffing it up and then working out how to fix it!

Can you share a piece of advice you'd give to someone starting out in Cake decorating?

Find your niche. Trying to master all facets of cake & baking world can be overwhelming. Find your ‘thing’ and then smash it!
