I have wondered for a very long time what a KitchenAid was like to use so this was the perfect opportunity for me to try before I buy. When the loan machine landed on my doorstep I was so excited. I opened ready to give it a go and pow there was the actual colour I want for my own kitchen The Pistachio. Oh I love her and want to keep her forever and ever!
With Christmas on our doorstep and having recently completed the cookie decorating course I thought id take this opportunity to recreate Julia’s aka Miss Biscuit’s amazing gingerbread for the family on Christmas Day.
With my current stand mixer the bowl rotates so it’s easy to scrape down the sides as its mixing. I didn’t realise the Kitchenaid was stationary so I was a little uncoordinated with scraping the creamed butter and sugar but in saying that it’s just what you are used too. Im sure I would, hang on I know I would get used to it! I loved how quiet it was and how quickly the ingredients came together and was fascinated watching the planetary motion of the mixing. No doubt this is why everything mixed together so perfect.
If any of you make gingerbread you would think why is she using the whisk attachment. My bad! I didn’t ask until well after the fact what others used and I should have used the dough hook. It makes sense really, given I was making a dough. Im so used to the mixer I have offering limited options this one went right over my head.
